I just have to tell you about Roy tonight.  I've been working a lot with him
in the round pen.  A friend of mine (the one that got thrown …..),
Michelle has been coming over and riding also.  So tonight, I thought
instead of the round pen, we'd go out around the property a little.  She
rode Makai, the standardbred, and I rode Roy.
Well, we didn't get too far, just up around my pasture on the far side, and
there were some branches down over the trail.  Roy went through, no problem,
but Makai was a little spooky.  Michelle isn't very experienced, and she got
scared and said she wanted to go back.  So I turned Roy around and went back
through the branches.  Well, Makai got excited, and Michelle got more
excited...long story short, she ended up on the ground again.  She scraped
her face on a rock, but other than that, she's okay.  We went back to the
round pen and she rode a little more.
But I was so proud of Roy.  Even with Makai running around loose, he stayed
under control.  He was excited and snorting, but I kept bending his neck to
the left and right, and he paid attention to me.  I rode him back to the
house and around the house for ten minutes or so.

He is always impressing me.
