Once Again Cate has given us a great way to ease into the spring riding season.  For those of us who have not been able to ride thru the winter elements like we planned her 10 and 15 mile clinic options are just the ticket!  The gang at Feather Hill found multiple blessings in the clinic options... 12 Days of Christmas.....

Or was it the 12 days of Fun in the Sun?  No not "The FITS" and it was a little early to be my Christmas present... I know! How about a birthday trip?  What more could a girl ask for then a wonderful extended trip spent conditioning two of our young distance horses...  Well throw in warm dry weather, seemingly unlimited sun shine, a great camp site, plenty of wildlife, good friends, perfect trail conditions....  Oh yes most important of all ~ the most superb husband who enjoys the same things! ... The Journey of a Lifetime

I first saw Leo (pronounced lay-oh) when he was a yearling running with his half-brother....I was at the farm to take my first look at the then novel horse breed called Paso Fino. I rode a pretty chestnut mare that day.  I'd never experienced anything like her gait and I'd owned and ridden several breeds of horses over the previous twenty years, including Tennessee Walkers..... Medallion del Prado

at the 03 spring Glass Memorial rides in western PA.  Mother Nature sure was determined to test our will this season.  I think it rained every ride all year!  Yes that extra color on my cheeks is mud..  Medallion never minded the rain and most rides it helped keep him cool.  Professor Nature instructed me in a tuff course covering all metabolic variables and methods for cooling & keeping warm sometimes BOTH in the same day!  It was an adventure as well as an important education - more like a crash course in everything that can go wrong but when it was all said and done (and after a fight with the record keepers) Medallion managed to earn the 2003 PFHA High Point CTR Horse of the Year award.
