That's horses for you - Ellie settles in like a trooper….

Ellie greets every new experience as an adventure (went to spray show sheen on her forelock and she was a little apprehensive but then bent down to check it out, realised it was not going to kill her and once she saw that it led to brushing, which she definitely likes, she was looking for another shot of spray!).  She has a ball to play with, and has found she likes my two little King Charles Spaniels and is super with them - very curious but gentle, whereas Tesoro tries to kill them when they come in the pen, and Miranda just ignores them.

I know Miranda is comfortable with us and in her pen, so we will work within her comfort zone and build from there.  It turns out that Don is claiming Tesoro and I Miranda, so I will be riding her, and I think she is so sweet (and pretty)…

The more we are around Ellie the more we love her - she has the sweetest personality and such character.

Hi Brenda,

Ellie foaled two weeks early and had a buckskin filly who has Mom's friendly temperament and adventurous spirit.  The photos below were taken within an hour of birth and the ones with Don and Ellie about 2 hours after.  Typical guy - she does all the work and HE is exhausted!!  He claims he was bonding with the foal and training Ellie...

"Kayla" is now three weeks old and growing like a weed.  When I go into the field to clean up she comes running to me and follows me around with no thought to Mom at all, and Mom is quite content to let her do it (although she is a great mother and always has one eye on baby).  She gives to pressure, picks up her feet, moves over on command and backs up with a hand signal, so is a very fast learner - she thinks it is a game.

We are absolutely delighted with both of them.
